Embark on an adventure into the world of gaming with the Universe Coasting Game UX/UI Design project. This passion-driven endeavor emerged from a collaborative effort involving members from various backgrounds, including IT companies, a real game Project Manager, university students, a music creator, and a graphic/UXUI designer—myself.
In several weeks of intensive brainstorming sessions and meetings, we meticulously defined the game’s type, established its background story setting, identified the target audience, and outlined the gameplay logistics. At the heart of it all, I was tasked with bringing the game’s visual identity to life.
The game’s backdrop is set in a captivating sci-fi universe, where celestial bodies loom in the darkness, and meteors streak across the sky—a testament to the final flames of a crashed spaceship amidst the vast cosmos.
Crafting the game logo was a pivotal step, featuring a spaceship gracefully orbiting an asteroid. The choice of font, Acier BAT, imbues the design with a modern yet retro cyberpunk flair, thanks to its stylish appearance and fine horizontal lines.
Transitioning from sketches to digital art, I meticulously designed the game interface and elements, infusing them with futuristic aesthetics. Straight and polyline elements, vibrant fluorescent hues, and the Han Sans font contributed to a cohesive and visually engaging user experience.
The integration of polygonal outlines for icons and elements further enhanced the game’s visual appeal, ensuring consistency and fluidity throughout.
With team approval secured, the interface and elements were brought to life using Adobe XD to create the game prototype—a crucial step towards realizing our collective vision. While the project underwent initial testing, it was regrettably paused as team members shifted focus in light of the pandemic.
Despite the temporary setback, the Universe Coasting Game project served as a valuable learning experience. From using Adobe XD to build prototypes to linking elements to Unity for coding, it provided invaluable insights into the intricate world of game creation.
While the project may be currently inactive, its legacy lives on as a testament to collaboration, creativity, and the boundless possibilities that await in the realm of gaming design.
